Who Are We, You and me?
7856 Self Improvement > Self Discipline Mar 1, 2007 Gilbert Murray Who Are We, You and me? A question asked by everyone at some point in their life. Who am I? Why am I the person I am? How did I get to be this person? The composition of who you are and how you relate to others in your life began long ago. You received a program from birth of how to behave and succeed on many levels. This program came from your parents or guardians, those responsible for your upbringing. This program is what makes you who you are.

Consider this; some people have no problem earning a 6 figure income while others have a difficult time earning more than minimum wage. This directly correlates to their programming. The person earning a 6 figure income knows no other way. This is ingrained in their mind that they are to earn that money. Perhaps they don?t know exactly how they will achieve this as children but they are given the stimulus, the belief that this is how things are done. This person has a belief, a program to earn that income and he or she will do it. Let?s go one step further. How about the child who is well cared for, loved and nurtured, and taught that giving of herself can only bring the same to her in return. This child grows up understanding that love begets love. This person as an adult will enjoy successful relationships and strong family values.

We have all seen or heard of the neglected child left to fend for himself. His love and nurturing is what the streets have to offer. They learn to fight and steal to survive. Now this is an extreme example but the neglected child has very little chance succeeding in love or the job market because of their negative belief, their negative program. We have all seen the results of each example. We have seen the families thriving, giving of themselves and we have seen the dysfunctional families who believe that the world owes them something. They are the ones waiting for the better opportunity to present itself instead of going out and making that opportunity happen.

Can negative programs, negative beliefs be changed? Fortunately the answer is yes but it requires a very strong desire, a desire so strong that it totally dominates your thoughts and actions. Once you accept this desire and are totally committed you will succeed.

Success is defined as progressively working toward, and the realization of ones goals. Are you successful along the way? Of course, you are moving in a positive direction. Your are moving toward your goal one step at a time. You are achieving success every step along the way.

Sacrifice of self self. What does it mean? It means letting go of the old self for a new and better self. This is a hard thing do as we get comfortable with whom and what we are. Our old self is familiar, seems safe, and is relatively effortless
