How To Take Care Of Your Bathroom's Tile
66252 Home & Family Feb 28, 2008 jcorkern10 How To Take Care Of Your Bathroom's Tile The use of public baths has been traced back as far as 3000 B.C. The most ancient bath tub still in existence that is nearest to the tubs we have in modern times, has been traced back to 1700 B.C. and was discovered in the Palace of Knosses in Crete. The first modern bathroom that came to be a permanent staple in a residence came about in the late 1900's. That was when ceramic tiles were put in as a practical feature as well as being nice to look at. They are still used as one of the most sensible materials in a bathroom today. They have long wearing durability and when wanted, may be designed in intricate ways that gives elegance to any bathroom. Even though tile is one of the most durable substances to install in a bathroom, they might develop issues over time. You could have experienced the proof of this if you ever rented or bought an older house. Tiles can get broken or grout could come out making the tiles become loose or come out of their spot all together. A lot of times, when trouble tiles such as these occur in bathroom tile, you may just see them as an eyesore, and not necessarily considering them as a potential for water problems in the bathroom. This is something some home owners may not pay attention to until it becomes a necessary repair task. Breaks in a tile bathroom floor normally are created by items being dropped on them or if a tiles adhesion to the surface underneath makes them loose and more likely to crack. The most likely spot for tiles to come loose, but not always break, is around the tub itself, especially the spigot, handles, and where the tile connects to the shower or tub. This occurs in these areas more often as a result of the continuous exposure to water and often cleaning with strong products like bleach. The harsh substances in many cleaning solutions and the hard scrubbing used with them, will cause the grout to deteriorate with time and allow water to go in behind the tiles, which can lead to more problematic issues besides just loose tiles. Water and mold will destroy the places that the tiles are glued to and can happen very rapidly after the water has gotten on any place that was supposed to stay dry. To get out of costly repair projects due to this kind of bathroom water damage, it is wise to keep your bathroom tile grouted well. A little maintenance now will save you a lot of time and money tomorrow.
