Asking Yourself the Tough Questions
65657 Finance Mar 1, 2008 cassidy Asking Yourself the Tough Questions There's something about tough questions that makes us realize who we truly are. Ignoring them is like sweeping off dust and dirt under the rug. They are still there but tucked safely away from our eyes and from the eyes of people visiting us. Yet, if you step on that part of the rug, you would know that the dirt is still there. Why don't you confront these tough questions once and for all and be done away with them? You may even become a better person when you address these questions. If you have been working in your profession for a long time already, you might feel a little cramped and constricted. You need to take a break and give yourself a chance to think through some of the tough questions bugging you for quite some time now. Be honest with yourself though because if you do not, you will end up reinforcing the lies that you have come to believe. You better start with the most visible things in your life. Take a look at your home and your office. Most likely, the tidiness and the arrangements there reflect who you are as a person. Do you exude peace and quiet? Or is it more about mess and disorder? By engaging in this exercise, you begin to observe your environment and what is there. Sometimes, when you are always in a hurry, you tend to forget the people and the things that are just there in your reach. After taking a look at your home and your office space, take a look at the people around you. Who are your friends? What kind of influence do they exert on you? Is this influence positive or negative? Do they support you or are they the ones pulling you down? What kinds of activities do you engage in? Your environment has a very big impact on who you are. Although your environment is external, you played a part in defining and shaping it that way. You chose to buy this cabinet or that shelf; you chose to hang around with this or that person. Your environment, however, is not your whole self. You might have made some decisions before because of time constraints but you have a choice in improving things. Once you have analyzed your environment, it is time to draw upon your inner self. What are your deepest goals and purpose in life? When you have a firm grasp on that, you then need to make the necessary changes to be consistent with your purpose. The One Question is a website that helps people discover their purpose in life. It discusses the meaning of life and lets you find yours. send email to cassidy
