How many times a year do any of us ever give much thought to the attic? We might let them cross our minds right before the holidays if that is where we put our decorations or maybe in the summer season if we are contemplating having a yard sale. Other than these events, we will not usually need to go up there at all. There is another good excuse why we should climb up there at a time that may not seem like an appropriate time at all and that is during a heavy rainfall. You may think this is weird, but it is really quite sensible. When it is raining fairly hard, it is the most appropriate occasion to discover if you are experiencing water hazards in your attic. High humidity levels in the home's living area can contribute to the condensation of dampness on the wood in an attic. Over time, this might allow rotting in the wood. There are several things that can help prevent this situation and they are adequate insulation of your attic floor, sealing around your attic door, and installation of exhaust fans in the bathrooms and kitchen. This can keep the attic cooler and stop the air from beneath the attic from damaging the wood upstairs. A little maintenance today can reduce the risk for more cost and repair tomorrow.
