In this mammoth task, one page will be dedicated to every animal, insect or plant species ever documented. It is a feat that many scientists could only ever dream of but after the example of Wikipedia, whereby many contributors can make a site work, there is now a way to collate all the information ever gathered in one place that can be accessed by all. To date, 30,000 pages have been completed with pictures, videos and information. There will be charts and maps to show distribution facts as well as detailed history, biochemistry, habitat, toxicity and basically anything and everything that is known to each subject. There will be opportunities to add information, to sign up for alerts or to make additions. Links and expert references are also added to each page with a little information regarding the author of each addition. SEO specialists are there to drive traffic for each and every searched for term towards the relevant site page. With 1.8 million pages to make, plus internal pages, the SEO process could be hugely time consuming. However, it will be such an achievement for the scientists and indeed, anybody involved in the project, including SEO experts that it just has to be done. It will open up the scientific world to everybody in a mind boggling explosion of data and will transform many a child's homework! Man has long yearned for this kind of resource to be available and several scientists have tried documenting all the knowledge they could find. However, nobody has ever finalised it and, until recently, finalisation in a way that would be accessible to everyone was not possible. There are species that have long been extinct and are on the verge of extinction now. It seems there is a race on get everything down before many more extinctions happen. Historical records dating back as long as pen and ink will be used to glean details of long forgotten species and maybe even give the modern world an insight into how we can avoid this happening in the future. If nothing else, it is sure to make us all much more appreciative and aware of our surroundings. It will prove to make life richer and show us how significant our presence on this planet is. It will lead to scientists having the information to hand to carry out further research into possible cures for illnesses and worldwide trends regarding the environment and the effects of our behaviour on it. This will be an evolving website depending on user interaction on each page. Contribution, involvement and feedback will be actively encouraged. On each page will be the chance to decide what level of information you are looking for. A child will need the basics where as an expert will want much more. This will encourage some who might otherwise be daunted by the amount of information, to use the site. To get the job of SEO host on this site will be a colossal undertaking but what a worthwhile subject!
