Since the use of natural stone being incorporated into so many homes these days, people are finding more and more ways to use them. Inside the home there are several places that are popular to use stones like marble and granite. They are used for flooring, countertops, bathtub surrounds, shower surrounds, fireplace surrounds and other places for other things that can accent the inside of a home. We know, of course that granite stone has been used for outside building for thousands of years. They have been used in ancient Egypt and other places like Jerusalem. Jerusalem stone is natural limestone that is taken from the surrounding areas of Jerusalem and is one of the most popular marble for use indoors or out of doors. Sandstone, slate, granite, and travertine are other great choices of stone to use outside. Natural stone on a homes exterior is simply gorgeous and will give any home the look and feel of a castle no matter how big or small. Some of us who may not be able to have an entire home faced with this beautiful stone may have to settle for a little less of its charm. The fact that natural stone of good quality can be very expensive is something that you probably already know about. The expense does not mean that we can not use any natural stone for some of our smaller outdoor projects. Laying walkways, pathways, or patios could be more affordable than say, facing a retaining wall in our garden. Having a surround of stone around a pool, if we are fortunate enough to have one, is a stylish way to use stone, even something as small as a fire pit can give a plain cement patio a little more class for a small amount of money. Topping a patio or casual outdoor table or sitting bench with natural stone can add a little more charm to these items. If you are lucky enough to not have to really worry about the cost of using natural stone, well then, your possibilities can be endless. There are plenty of websites on the internet where you can see beautiful examples of using natural stone in your outdoor living space as well as in the interior of your home as well. You can add value to your home and will be giving it a unique and appealing appearance at the same time.
