Here are some helpful tips and advice when choosing your hotel. You should book for your hotel reservation days if not weeks in advance. Prices of hotel rates rise during the peak season which is summer and holidays. You can actually save as much as 30% to 40% if you book for your hotel months in advance. It would be best to choose and book for hotels that are located near public transport stations like the metro or subway. If you are staying in a large city at that, you can expect to have a lot of traffic most especially during rush hour. Staying near a station would definitely come in handy when it comes to commuting to and from your hotel. Also, the hotel should be accessible to the airport, the seaport, the railway station or bus station whichever mode of transportation it is you are going to be using. You can expect to get the type of accommodation for whatever is the amount you are paying for. The hotel you choose should have reasonable prices but then not that cheap as you might be somewhat disappointed. You can always book and reserve for your hotel all by yourself. Going through travel agents may be a bit more expensive as compared to if you had done it yourself since they will be getting a commission. Also, if you do it yourself, you get the chance to read reviews about your hotel accommodation prospects before making any reservation. It is of utmost importance that you pay close attention to both the check-in and check-out times of the hotel you will be staying at. Generally, majority of hotels have a check-in time of 12:00 pm or at a time later than that. Book a hotel in the city district near restaurants and fast food chains. In this manner should you want to eat out instead of inside the hotel's restaurant offerings, you can easily just walk and select from a wide variety of choices. Always pay attention to details such as whether smoking is not allowed inside the room, room service, availability of gym, pool, etc. If booking in a tropical country, ensure that the room has air conditioning. Lastly, find a hotel that would provide you with transfers to avoid having to avail of a local taxi that could either charge you too much or waste your time.
