One of the most terrible things about smoking is what the second-hand smoke can do to those around you, or even perfect strangers. People who breathe smoke that is in the air from another person's cigarette can experience adverse effects as well. It can cause lung cancer, asthma, bronchitis, emphysema and many other chronic illnesses. This can be a tragedy for the children who breathe the smoke that comes from your cigarettes at home. Nicotine is what is responsible for the addiction that you have to cigarettes. Nicotine addiction is a powerful thing, and when you go without a cigarette for a while, you may notice withdrawal symptoms. Some of these might include: confusion, irritability, panic, a feeling of loss, and other symptoms. This is what you feel when you try to quit, and what makes it so difficult. Nicotine is more addicting than caffeine, marijuana, and even heroine. As difficult as it might be to quit smoking, you can do it. You need to have the proper motivation, and one of the most powerful types of motivation you can use is your children or loved ones. No one wants their children to suffer from the adverse effects of second hand smoke. No one wants their children to have to live through the terrible ordeal of their parents' painful tobacco related diseases. You can quit smoking. Gather the drive and determination from learning about the painful and difficult things that smoking can bring you. Think of the people you love, and you can overcome your addiction to nicotine.
