Phthalates is a plasticizer which is another material added to polyvinylchloride because this material makes sex toys softer and more pliable which a desired feature in adult sex products is. Like some children's toys they are no regulations of the manufacturing of sex toys and products that are made in china. The topic of concern is that this material could be toxic. I have not found any evidence to suggest that this is a valid statement. Especially when their has been no testing that I am aware of. With friction in the vaginal or anal cavity toxins could be released and absorbed through the mucous membrane. Since their has been no testing it is recommended by the manufacturer and physicians that if you since discomfort or become irritated you should stop using any and all kinds of sex toys and consult with your physician immediately. Don't assume that you have std's or that you haven't cleaned your sex toy properly. You could be allergic to the material. Sometimes when you purchase and unwrap a new toy that product may have a strong plastic smell to it. Almost like a new car would smell like. It is recommended to wash your dildo or vibrator thoroughly with warm soap and water or use a quality sex toy cleaner and leave it in the open air for a while. Also you should use a condom over all your sex toys and products to ensure safety especially if you are sharing your sex toys. When you are finished using your toy and have thoroughly sanitized them you should store all your sex toys and products in an airtight container and out of direct sunlight. If you just follow a few simple rules about how to protect yourself then everything should be okay for you. Go and enjoy your sex toy today.
