Print quality depends on the pin numbers, the mechanisms that print dots. The pin numbers vary from nine to twenty four. The ideal one has 24 pins that produce characters near to perfect. In addition to these two factors, you need to consider the noise factor too. Compared to laser and ink jet printers, they make much more noise. It is superior in durability but sometime unfortunately wears out. The inks that overruns the guide plate cause peeve and pique. These ultimately lead to the wearing out of the guide plates because the grits make the circular channels on the plate to turn to oval and slot. As a result the printing get deteriorated and become unviable to read it. As the technology varies, the features of it vary. This results in the variation in prices. Dot matrix printers are widely used in industrial market where high volume printing is required. They are often considered as the right combination of outlay and versatility. Dot matrix printers are also available in multi color printing with a multi colored ink soaked ribbon.
