Although the mold that most of us know of and seen on TV is deadly, toxic, and black, not all molds have all three of these things. Indeed there are molds that are seen as black and toxic, but this will not form the majority of the molds that you may find residing within the residence. Mold comes with many different hues and is able to prosper within environments that you would not typically think of. As an example, you tends to think that a desert might be the last environment that you would find mold growing, but actually, it is one of the environments that mold prospers in a lot, especially near households. Maybe you have conducted an inspection in your household within the past few months and did not found any confirmation of mold, but do you really know how and where to investigate? How can you tell if you should look for it at all? Ask yourself if you have any habits that would be friendly to mold moving in your residence and you should have your solution. Do you cleanse wet clothing and other things quickly or do you throw them into the back of the bathroom closet? Do you dump dry clothes on top..? If you do that, then you could possibly have mold issues with those items in a couple of days. Mold loves to start growing after close to two days, especially on wet clothes. The infection could migrate to the dry clothing you put on top and if on carpet, then it will move into the carpet and padding under it. This could cause a much bigger problem, since when carpet pads becomes molded, it should be taken out. It is not able to be sanitized. If your dishwasher leaks, is your floor sealed water tight? If it is not, you may have water damage to the floor underneath. You had better not use your dishwasher while it is leaking. Our parents and grandparents were never too good to scrub glasses by hand, so it should not be too challenging to do this while the issue is dealt with. Is your cellar moist or have water leaks in it? Does the basement have carpet anywhere in it? Does it smell musty? This is a good indicator that mold could exist down there and if you can, deal with the moisture issue before anything else. Clothes should never be hung up to dry in the basement and your electric dryer should be properly vented to the outer part of a home. Install an exhaust vent or a dehumidifier to assist get rid of the humidity, if you have to.
