Pros of Running a Home Business * Possibility of increased income: all the profits are yours. * No commuting stress or expenses: it's a short commute from the kitchen to the work area. * Set your own schedule: design your own work/life balance. * Set-up your own workspace: designed exactly the way you want it. * Be your own boss: call all the shots. Cons of Running a Home Business * Possibility of increased expenses: all costs are yours * No social network: is working in isolation for you? * Possibility of no regular paycheck: especially during start-up phase. * Distractions: you may find yourself sitting down to watch the Flintstones with the kids when you should be working. * Start-up costs: depending on the type of business, do you have the resources to begin? All that being said, if you decide a home business is for you then there are a myriad of home business opportunities available to you. You can select from a palette that suits your tastes and personality. Some of the best home business ideas can be cultivated from those things you like; things you did or still do that were purely for enjoyment but now can increase the cash in your personal coffer. Included in this category would be arts and crafts such as: pottery, scrap booking, creative gift baskets, handmade greeting cards, candle making and other such artistic and creative work. For those with a more analytical business sent there are many home business ideas which would serve local community businesses well. These would include disciplines such as: financial accounting, bookkeeping, medical and legal transcription, translation services, business writing services (reports, sales letters, and brochures) as well as web design, desktop publishing, marketing consulting, and financial consulting. And of course there's everything else in between these two categories, from personal trainer or yoga instructor to personal chef or wedding planner. Cultivating your ingenuity and intuition could lead you into securing a little niche no one else has cornered. Who would have thought years ago that one could make a living as a golf ball retriever, wandering around along the edges of a water hazard on some little-known golf course, but there are people doing that right this minute somewhere in North America, getting their feet wet and earning money along the way. So the leap into a home business can be made, there are home business ideas limited only by your imagination, and home business opportunities waiting for you to reach out and grab them.
