Act Now Against Bird Flu.
5131 Disease & Illness > Bird Flu Mar 1, 2007 Emily Purles Act Now Against Bird Flu. ?Who let the birds out??

Though this song is not yet popular among people, if not careful, in due course, everyone will be singing it in unison. In other words, the bird flu is spreading fast, and not enough is being done to prevent it. Ironically, some organizations are even indulging in witty rhetoric persuading people to buy chicken
and eggs.

In that context, let us take India as an example. India saw the first outbreak of the avian flu in Maharastra, following which there were chaotic outbursts of mixed feelings among people. In the beginning, experts and the government stepped in and acted as if they were taking control of the situation. As a result, thousands of chicken were culled around the perimeter, which initially helped in assuring people that the threat was being controlled. There was even a campaign lead out by the poultry association and the government where celebrities ate chicken in public telling people that eating chicken was safe. And absurdly, most people bought it!

Before you raise an eyebrow, rest assured that this article is not aimed at stopping you from eating chicken and eggs, but it is aimed at bringing out a grave reality, the reality about the deadly disease that is lurking around the corner ready to pound at any moment.

Today, while the government sleeps and when people have almost forgotten about the flu, the newspapers, however, are reporting casualties in different areas caused by the H5N1 virus on a daily basis. There is no doubt that it could well be a case of mistaken identity, but the medical report are stating otherwise. In other words, while the alarm is ringing, no one seems to be listening.

Hence, the question of the hour is, are people as cautious as they should be? The answer in all earnest is, ?Don?t think so.?

Why?

Well, that?s a debatable question. Looking at the way things are going, it has to be established that first of all, it is the attitude of the people that is creating a mental block. No one really seems to care if the H5N1 virus is moving towards them. And probably nobody will, until and unless something is done on a large scale.

In other word, the right thing to right now would be to educate the people about the potential threat that is ready to break loose anytime. After that, precautionary measures are to be discussed and implemented. People need to be aware of drugs like Tamiflu that can cause relief incase of an outbreak.

But who cares!

To conclude let us say that this is a confusing time. While the big organizations are doing nothing to control the crisis, it is you who can act now and spread the message. Don?t wait for something to be done by others, take guard yourself and buy Tamiflu right now as it could be the best decision of your life at this moment. Honestly speaking, there may not be another time!
