Some people are compelled by their religion so much that they develop a compulsion to pray. The psychologist must delve in, to the deep recesses of a person's psyche to determine why their religious beliefs make prayer so necessary because the person has to pray to the point where it is excessive. There are many triggers to psychological behaviors and the ones that apply to compulsive personality disorder could come from anywhere. On any given day, a person might start washing their hands over and over gain, and has no alternative but to follow this urge or compulsion. The trigger for this reaction could go back far in his personal history to childhood when he was rarely bathed. While many housekeepers like to keep things nice and orderly, a person with a compulsive personality disorder will take that orderliness to an extreme that will surprise everyone. They will become extremely agitated if they can not return an item to the proper place if it has been nudged out of place by a visitor. Every item in the home will be exactly correct in all respects. People with this form of compulsive behavior will generally be just as compulsive in any other home. There are various triggers that might have caused this individual to act this way. Perhaps they were taken out of a home that was disorderly and unhealthy for them to live in and they feel compelled to ensure that it does not happen again. No form of reassurance will keep them from keeping things orderly. There are some multiple behavioral patterns that emerge with people who suffer from compulsive personality disorder. Their fears can manifest from germs that come from any source and shaking hands will never occur. At the same time, the compulsive personality will be driven to wash their hands to ensure they are clean but they still can not bring themselves to come in contact with objects that were touched by hands, i.e., doorknobs, toilet seats, steering wheels. The psychologist must delve into the reasons for all of the compulsive behaviors that the person displays, and consider the obsessive reasons that cause the compulsions. The reasons might not make sense at all to any well person but when you have a mental condition that is compulsive nothing will make sense to anyone else but the person that is affected with the personality disorder. They recognize that things are not right and they might become obsessive about get well.
