Safety Conscious Parents At Halloween
Halloween is celebrated on the same date of every year and is one of the holidays that people are injured the most. There are many safety conscious parents at Halloween because they have children wandering the streets. Many of these children will be wearing costumes and they will be so excited about the celebrations going on around them that they will not look where they are going. Some parents are so safety conscious that they put a lot of thought into the costumes they buy for their children to celebrate in. They have heard the horror stories about children's costumes catching fire from pumpkins that were on the front porch of a house because these pumpkins became Jack-O-Lanterns. Most parents check to see if the costume they have chosen has flame retardant properties and if it does not, they will place it back on the rack and search for one that does. There are many parents that might choose not to allow their children to wear any type of mask because these masks make them trip and fall even when the children are using the sidewalks. Some children need the mask on to be the fiercest monster on the street. These safety conscious parents will enlarge the eye holes on the masks just to make sure that the child can see where to step. Other children incur injuries from falls and the safety conscious parents at Halloween will try to determine why. Some of the falls could occur because the hem of the costume was too long. These type of problems are easy to fix with a needle and thread and of course, the child. With a little time and patience, the child will have a costume to wear that does not interfere with their walking. Small children are the biggest concern for a safety conscious parent. Young children are not as tall as some automobile driver's deem they should be. Many people are on the road traveling from one Halloween party to another, and children are so occupied with Trick or Treating that they do not pay attention to their surroundings. Some neighborhoods have posted large signs in glow in the dark colors that remind drivers to slow down because children are present on the streets. It is far better to have safety conscious parents around Halloween time because so many things are going on at one time. Some children want to cover a lot of territory in one night and can be seen by many parents running and crossing to the other side of the street without looking. Some neighborhoods have totally banned car traffic during the hours that children will be out gathering candy and other goodies from homes throughout the neighborhood watch area.
