Scrap booking is the earliest form of collecting any kind of memorabilia and it became widely popular as soon as the printing materials became available to the average person. As soon as photograph services became available to the public the scrap books became a favorite way for people to preserve moments of their live and memories of the members of their family. In fact the current format of a traditional scrap book hasn't changed much from the its early day look. Photos were arranged in an album or glued on paper. Other kind of memorabilia such as newspaper clippings, letters, even items were attached as well. The commercial side of scrap booking has it roots in 1976. A lady called Christensen began to create pages for her family. Her consistent work gain popularity in 1980 when all of her scrap books were displayed at the Salt Lake City World Conference. Since then many companies became interested in designing and selling scrap books. The first scrap book store was opened in 1981 by Christensen. Scrap book popularity gained massive popularity as more and more people were tempted by the idea to preserve their family memories in a nice and unique way. This led to a book published in 1995 the first idea guide to scrap booking written again by Christensen. In the late 90s many entrepreneurs opened scrapbook stores. However most of them were pushed to close later on as selling scrapbooks only was not enough to run a whole store. The business of scrap booking aimed at a different direction direct sales. Today scrap booking is as loved as it has always been. Nice scrapbooks can be found at almost any store moreover there are thousands of scrapbook ideas in the Internet. Finding supplies for creating a memorable memorabilia collection is also not that hard. The basic materials required such as an album, some tape and glue can be bought from any store and it is all a matter of imagination.
