A linked coupon contains a link that will direct you to the online store to avail of the promotion or discount. Basically after you click on the link and be directed to the merchant or retailer online, the discount is applied right before checkout of items. As to coupon codes, online merchants or retailers would require you to enter the promo code but as to where basically is different for varying sites. For some sites, you enter the code while in the shopping cart while for others you are suppose to encode it in the review page prior to checkout. If it is your first time to use coupons on a particular merchant website, observe carefully where you will submit or enter your coupon code. In case you cannot find the area where you are supposedly to enter the code, check the FAQ or customer service section. You can also call to ask your merchant of how you will go about redeeming and using the coupon. You will basically know that your coupon code is working because on the order page before you finalize and approve your transaction, you will see the cost of your purchase, the other fees charged (handling, shipping, taxes, etc. whatever is applicable) and the discounts applied. Should you not see the discount being applied, better think twice if you'll go on with the purchase. Online coupons basically cannot be used for redemption on their brick and mortar shops unless the promo states otherwise. Also, most promotions only allow one coupon to be used for every transaction or purchased item. Should you be looking for any additional savings aside from the coupons, you can look for and avail of rebates for your purchased item. You can also call the merchant directly to ask if they are offering any rebates for the item you are buying. You can basically find good deals about online coupons from newsletters, updates and from coupon sites as well as forums.
