Happiness is the True Secret to Success!
Many books have been written about success and how to achieve it. But if there one true way to achieve success it is true happiness. That?s right. For what is the point of being successful if you are not happy?
But how do you become happy? Follow the guidelines below and you just might stumble on happiness.
Determine the things that are important in your life. Ask yourself: what are the things that I really cannot live without? Is it your career? Money? Material things? The love and support of family and friends? A certain hobby? These are juts examples of what other people deem important to them. Whatever it is you should be honest to yourself. Do not be ashamed of your answer. Whatever you hold important is a reflection of your values, not your true personality. And as you may already know by now, values can change.
After finding out the things that you truly value the next thing to do is to promise yourself to devote more time to these things. If it is your family that is truly important to you then make a pledge to spend more time with your family. The bottom line is if you want to be happy then you should make happiness your priority.
Think of the things, occasions, persons that makes you happy. To do this, go back to the time when you felt happiest. Ask yourself: why am I happy then? What was I doing? Who were I with? Determining what truly makes us happy is a big step towards achieving happiness.
The changes you need to do to make room for happiness in your life need not be biog. They can be small adjustments like waking up earlier than usual to spend more time with your kids or freeing up one weeknight for a treasured hobby. Remember that it is often the little things that matter a lot and that can introduce big changes in our lives.
Keep a positive mental attitude. Focus on the good things in your life rather than the bad things. Maintain an attitude of gratefulness. It may be a clich?, but the saying ?count your blessings? holds a lot of power when it comes to transforming a negative outlook into a positive one. Learn to accept everything that comes your way, even the trials, and believe that everything happens for a reason. Do not dwell too much on your problems. Remember that worrying about a problem would not solve it and that often a problem gets solved on its own.
If you feel like it, then talk to someone else. Talk to a professional like a psychotherapist, a pastor or a priest if you like. Opening up to another individual or even a group of people can lead to new discoveries about yourself and your situation. You can also ask these people what makes them happy. Remember that happiness is a mindset. More often than not we are unhappy because we chose to be unhappy. We dwell too much on the negative things and overlook the blessings that have come and are continuously coming our way.
