What you may not realize is that having a digestive disorder is in fact a very common problem. By keeping things a secret, your fears may prevent you from finding out more about condition. And that can be detrimental as there can be plenty of myths surrounding digestive disorders. If you want to better cope with your condition and improve on the quality of your life, it is important that you dispel some of these common myths and seek the truth. The first myth about digestive disorders is that having bowel movements just 3 times weekly or less is okay. If you have chronic constipation, you may choose to believe having that few bowel movements will not cause any health threats. Howwever, naturopathic experts say otherwise. Symptoms that you manifest with chronic constipation can include bad skin, chronic fatigue, sluggishness, bad breath, amongst others. The experts believe that healthy people should average about one bowel movement every day. Just think about this. If you eat, you are likely to have waste. The point is that if you have waste every day, would you think it is necessary to clear it on a daily basis? Just like you would with a trash can. Eliminating waste is crucial before the trash gets choked and starts to attract all kinds of parasites. The second myth that many people have in relation to digestive disorders is that spicy foods can cause stomach ulcers. Spicy foods do not cause stomach ulcers and ulcers in other parts of your digestive system. Stomach ulcers are normally caused by bacteria in the digestive system or overuse of NSAIDs like aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen. Spicy food may irritate existing ulcers, but it will not cause additional ulcers. Another myth about digestive disorders that needs to be dispelled is that cirrhosis is often caused by alcoholism. What is the case is that cirrhosis is not caused by alcoholism alone. In fact, alcohol causes only one-half of the cases of cirrhosis that are diagnosed each year. Some of the diseases that can lead to cirrhosis includes Hepatitis B or C, glycogen storage disease, and more. Finally, having regular enemas can be counter productive. The myth that regular enemas is good for health is not true. To treat their constipation, some people get reliant on using enemas. However, please be aware that regular enema use can cause problems with the muscle action of the intestines, which can make your intestines to not work normally. This can in fact cause constipation or diarrhea. In fact, enemas should not be used on a regular basis. You should check with your doctor if you are experiencing chronic constipation before becoming dependent upon the enemas.
